What a feeling it was to finally be launching! Aaron stood proudly at a computer bank, diverting power and fixing minor glitches. But the jitters about launching weren't the only feeling Aaron had. Down in the pit of his stomach, Aaron felt a sense of forboding and disaster. The last time he had felt this kind of sinkingness was when he realized had had missed a huge question on his engineering final exam at the Academy. It was back now, and stronger.

 

He had learned to trust these feelings, so he had called Jon down to Engineering, just in case. Everyone around him was saying that it was just jitters, and Aaron agreed with them, only because he needed to concentrate on his duties. He hoped that nothing would go wrong now. If the Challenger needed emergency help from Earth, it would be a long time. And you can't hear screaming in space...
