Whack the penguin!

27 posts in this topic

I noticed from the Empires and Capt. Canuck threads that there have been some tensions, between the Candaian and American members of this forum. So as an effort to help alleviate this, I decided to post this topic of a really fun game I found on the internet. Basically, you are a yeti, and the goal of this game is to hit the penguin as far as you can with his bat. So, let's see how far you can whack the little guy. Click an area of the field, when the penguin dives to swing. It's a pretty addictive little game, and is a great way to kill ten minutes or an hour whie you're waiting for your sim to start. :( The farthest I've gotten so far is 3577.5 :) And feel free to post here as many times as you want.

Edit: Oh yeah, I gotta give you the link! (Duh).. Also the subject should be How FAR can you whack Pingu? If a mod can change it, I'd appreciate it. :)

Whack Pingu here!

Cheers!

Tee-hee Mr. Seiben I've been playing for 5 mins and the farthest I've gotten yet has been 3507.4.

I like the game though, very entertaining. :(

And as you said, I hope this helps allevates tentions that have been flaring up ::Gazes at someone, he knows who he is:: from ya'll Canadians and us Americans.

Can't we all just get along. :)

You got the same score I did Gromvik? Hmm somethings fishy...I wonder how that game calculates its "distances".

3629.7! LOL! I love this crap.

Distance would be easy to calculate, Vex. Just base it on the point of impact and set values for the force of the bat, and air resistance and weight of a, uh, penguin. LOL. Dumb, but valid. Impact too high and it skids, too low and it goes straight up, just right and the bugger launches...

OMG How scary I just got 3629.7. Strange how some of us are getting the same score. :)

Just a thought :(

Yeti isn't from the North Pole, he's from tibet. Hey a lot of people move south for the winter why can't the Yeti :(

I wonder if they really do calculate it like that though, Huff. Since about 4 people got the same score...I'm wondering if they just have a random selection of distances that gets chosen.

These penguins just aren't very aerodynamic, are they? No wonder the species never learned to fly!

No, I would say there's only a finite number of points of contact on the penguin. If the maximum distance is based on an optimal point of contact, you're going to get the same exact number each time. I did pay attention to where the penguin is hit and his trajectory (being the recovered nerd, there are residual lapses now and then) and it was consistant with valid physics.

I cannot access the link for penguin whack. Can someone confirm the link? It looks as though many of you have played successfully. Thanks.
