The USS Challenger finds itself face-to-face with a Romulan D-7, the Firewing. Claiming navigational glitches, the Firewing's Commander hails the Challenger claiming that they didn't intend to enter Federation space and will leave immediately. After some thought and conference with his crew, Captain Seiben doesn't buy it and orders the tractor beam engaged to take the Romulan vessel back to the nearest starbase. But, before they can get a lock, the Firewing, which wasn't as damaged as they had thought fired a blinding EM pulse that temporarily blinded the crew and sensors long enough for them to evade the Challenger. Unable to find the Firewing on sensors or catch up with them, Captain Seiben orders the Challenger out of the anomaly and back to Epsilon 7 to resume their primary mission.
