  1. Hm... I didn't look originally, but there does seem to be a little bit of Argentine tango in Orlando.  Let me know if you're interested, and I'll pursue it more.  My shoes will be with me regardless, so it's all good.  B)

(Johnny - the following places show up repeatedly on my searches - Do you know anything about them?)

    Club Copacabana, 5454 International Drive

The Latin Quarter, 6000 Universal Blvd

The Zebra Room, 2609 Gowen St

::Crawls out of the cave he's hiding in, leaving the typewriter behind:: Yes... they are all excellent choices. Especially Latin Quarter; though that's more of a restaurant then club. But on the weekend in the evenings they turn into a dancing club, if my memory serves me correctly. I've hardly been out in to the Universal area in a while since I moved clear to the other side of town.

Club Copacabana is also a good choice, though that is more of a Brazilian club, but they also like their Latin dancing. ;)

The Zebra Room I'm not so familiar with, but it looks like it's in a not so tourist friendly part of town. But when it comes to Latin dancing the two other one's are pretty good choices.

Like I said before, feel free to ask questions, I might not get to them right away, but I'll try the best I can. I'm just entering that time of the semester in classes that I'm churning out paper after paper, and well... working a full time job as an assistant manager does limit my free time severly, (And as a lot of people close to me know, I tend to space out... a lot ;)) but I'll still try to help the best I can. ;)

::Crawls back into his cave, and goes back to churning out papers at the typewriter::

  2. Pfft. That ball didn't even break the plane. It was not a touchdown. Even without the reply I could tell it wasn't a touchdown. Boogus call.

That and the bad holding call that pushed them back from the 1 yard line, and then resulted in an interception in the play afterwards, another bad call. I could probably sit here and go on about all the bad calls the refs made during the game, but eh, the Steelers didn't play as bad as the Seahawks did, and won. The Seahawks just shot themselves in the foot with all the penalities and dropped passes. The refs just compounded the problem.

I should also note that I was not all too impressed with the game. Both teams just did not play well. The Steelers just managed to maintain themselves somewhat, while the Seahawks were even confusing me.

    Argh...

::Walks away, now $10 in the hole...::

  3. Alright ladies and germs, it's Super Bowl time, let's see those picks!

    Super Bowl XL

    Seattle at Pittsburgh

    Winner: Seattle wins 31-27

    MVP: Matt Hasselbeck/Shaun Alexander (Tie)

Alright, I will not deny that I have very impressed by Pittsburgh's run to the Super Bowl. They did after all beat the #1, 2, and 3 seeds in the AFC; a very impressive feat. But, I just don't see them being able to take away Seattle's chances for its first Super Bowl win. This is one of the strongest teams not only in the NFC, but the entire NFL. Seattle's offense is just as explosive as the Colts was, but don't expect Matt Hasselbeck to make the same mistakes that Peyton Manning made. Seattle did beat two of the best of Defenses (By a combined total of 54 points! Now that's impressive) in the entire NFC, and arguably in the NFL, to make it this far in the playoffs.

Shaun Alexander is going to come ripping and roaring through that great Pittsburgh defense, like he did against the Panthers. Hasselbeck is also going show why he was one the best QB's in the league in this game. Neither team is going to underestimate the other (Even though Seattle is coming into this game as the underdog). But the Seattle defense did lead the league in sacks, and against a Pittsburgh offense that's been going to it's passing game a lot more than it's expected running game in the playoffs, this will add up, and it'll help Seattle build up a little bit of a lead.

It's gonna be a close game though, I would not be surprised if it's decided by less than a Touchdown. So there ya go. Mock it all you want, I have a good feeling that this is the way its going to go.

Let's see what you all say.

  4. Ugh... what a terrible weekend. The teams that should have won, lost because of there own stupid mistakes (Except for the Panthers. They won because Steve Smith just whooped the Bears Defense). Let me just add... the officials at the Denver/New England game were terrible. Ugh... Alright ladies, time to pick the Conference Champs. Lets see em'.

    AFC Championship Game:

    Pittsburgh at Denver

    Winner: Pittsburgh wins 20-10

Talk about the last matchup anyone thought was going to happen in the Championship game this year. I will give props to Pittsburgh, and it's shocking win over Indianapolis yesterday (And if you all know me, I loath Peyton Manning, so it's always fun to see him choke in the playoffs ;)). They earned it, even though they nearly lost it, they still got the W.

In this game, I see Denver doing what it did last weekend with New England: Not being able to move the ball very much, especially against a very physical defense like Pittsburgh's. Denver's defense is going to be it's only hope to keep itself in the game, but Roethlisberger and Pittsburgh's passing game has been greatly improving. They'll plow right on over the Defense, and as previously mentioned, the Denver offense won't do much like it did last time.

    NFC Championship Game:

    Carolina at Seattle

    Winner: Seattle wins 27-20

Carolina just lost DeShaun Foster, their number one rusher on the team. This will hurt Carolina big time, especially with a team who lived off of their rushing game when they went to the Super Bowl last time. I don't see Mike Holmgren letting Carolina's other big weapon, Steve Smith, run over Seattle's hope to make it's Super Bowl appeareance this year; one that they clearly deserve.

Seattle proved that even without MVP Shaun Alexander, they can rely on Matt Hasselbeck to keep them alive, even against a strong Defense like Washington's. This momentum is going to carry them pass the Carolina Panthers (This is from someone who actually likes them, if it wasn't for the fact that they were too inconsistent during the regular season for my tastes, like last years Atlanta Falcons). EDIT: I meant the parenthetical remark towards the Panthers and not Seattle, FYI; Seattle played great this season.

Seattle will make it to the Super Bowl.

And I'll keep it at that. I save my actual winner of the Super Bowl for when we know for sure who's going to make it.

  5. Say it with me:

    O-VER-RATED! ::clap clap clap-clap clap::

    O-VER-RATED! ::clap clap clap-clap clap::

I'm sorry, but in the NFC, the Bears are dangerous. If they had been in the AFC, we might be singing a different tune. But in as weak of a conference the NFC is, the Bears will dominate.

Not to mention that they did send six little known guys from their Defense to the Pro Bowl. That certainly should amount to something.

I think they are far from overrated, they are just right for the NFC.

  6. ::Sobs quietly to himself:: Go Bears...

Edit:Blasted NFC. Gotta tweak my picks.

    AFC is staying the same.

    NFC Divisional Games:

    Seattle over Washington

    Chicago over Carolina

    NFC Championship:

    Chicago over Seattle

    Super Bowl 40:

    Chicago over Indianapolis

    GO BEARS!

  7. I'm actually surprised this hasn't been posted yet. But, oh well, I might as well start the thread up. Let's see some of your picks for who is going to win in the playoffs (Since we all know my mid-season picks did not fair very well). :)

    Let's start with the Seeds.

    AFC Seeds:

    1)Indianapolis Colts(1st round Bye)

    2)Denver Broncos (1st round Bye)

    3)Cincinnati Bengals

    4)New England Patriots

    5)Jacksonville Jaguars (Wildcard)

    6)Pittsburgh Steelers (Wildcard)

    NFC Seeds

    1)Seattle Seahawks (1st round Bye)

    2)Chicago Bears (1st round Bye)

    3)Tampa Bay Buccaneers

    4)New York Giants

    5)Carolina Panthers (Wildcard)

    6)Washington Redskins (Wildcard)

    Wild-Card Match-ups:

    Washington at Tampa Bay

Winner: Tampa Bay. (The Redskins are peaking at the right time, but that Bucs Defense is pretty amazing. That and Simms is maturing at QB, which is good.)

    Jacksonville at New England

Winner: New England (The Jags are good, but they're still an injured team. That and the Patriots are peaking at the right time on Defense, and they have some guy named Tom Brady at QB ;). I don't expect Jacksonville to knock them out of the playoffs.)

    Carolina at New York

Winner: Carolina (I think the Giants are a great team, but they have been struggling the last few weeks. If Carolina comes with their game on, they'll dominate, if not the Giants will win.)

    Pittsburgh at Cincinnatti

Winner: Pittsburgh (It seems to me that the Bengals are hitting that end of the season wall a lot of young teams hit i.e. The Giants. This team hasn't gone to the playoffs in a long time, and that will prove to be a disadvantage. Expect the Pittsburgh defense to dominate here. I still think the Bengals are a great team, and are going to be the early favorites to win the Super Bowl next year when they are ready for it.)

Divisonal Playoffs (As per my picks. The 1st seed plays the lowest seeded Wildcard winner, and the 2nd seed plays the highest seeded Wildcard winner. Confused? Good):

    New England at Denver

Winner: New England (I think Jake "The Fake!" Plummer is going to choke in the Playoffs, big time, and it'll cost Denver. New England will have that confidence factor going into the game, and I think it will lead them to their third consecutive AFC Championship appearance.)

    Pittsburgh at Indianapolis

Winner: Indianapolis (We saw how this match-up went the last time; expect it to play out the same. The Pittsburgh Defense should be able to rough up Peyton Manning though, but it won't be enough.)

    Carolina at Seattle

Winner: Seattle (Seattle is very explosive on offense, and their defense is ranked fairly well. Carolina is going to have a tough time against them, especially if they start off the game struggling.)

    Tampa Bay at Chicago

Winner: Tampa Bay (The Match-up of the #1 and 2 Defenses in the nation. Expect this to be a defensive battle, and very close game like the last time these two met. I just think that Rex Grossman won't be able to get over the Tampa Bay defense, while Simms already knows what to expect. If Grossman can lead the Bears offense over a high powered Defense, expect them to make it to the NFC Championship, and quite possibly, the Super Bowl.)

    Conference Championships:

    New England at Indianapolis

Winner: Indianapolis (The Super Bowl is Indianapolis's to lose, I'll be the first to say it. If they choke like they've done in games past in the Playoffs, it will cost them. New England will put up a heck of a fight in this game, and could very well win it all, Tom Brady is undefeated as a starter in the playoffs. Homefield advantage means nothing to New England, especially after last year. But Indy is healthier and has more on the line than New England does this year.)

    Tampa Bay at Seattle

Winner: Tampa Bay (Seattle made it this far, but this where I feel it will end. Tampa is going to stop Shaun Alexander, and will force Matt Hasselbeck to make costly mistakes like he's done in the past. Defense will always dominate... look at the Texas /USC Game: The Texas Defense made the big plays early on and Vince Young ran them to the National Championship :P)

    Super Bowl 40:

    Tampa Bay at Indianapolis

Winner: ... Tampa Bay! (Alright, I'm gonna be bad and root for my home team, even though I still feel that this might very well be the Colts year IF they make it all the way. Expect this to look something like the past Super Bowl that Tampa won. A high-powered offense, against a smash mouth defense. The only difference is that Indianapolis is better than the Raiders team that Tampa beat. It's gonna be a heck of a game though.)

Whew. That took some time... longer than I expected. But with an hour of free time at work, what do you expect? Alright folks, let's see them wonderful picks, I'm sure I'm gonna be dead wrong. :P

  8. ::The Florida Committee goes wild, and commence to hide all the bags with $$ on them... not that they'd bribe anyone or anything...::

Woo-hoo! I so have to attend now... even though I'll just probably stay at home rather than the hotel. ;)

Florida is fantastic during the summer, and contrary to popular belief, we don't have big bugs down here. Now of course if it rains a lot, we may get a big mesquito season, but the last year was pretty calm, and next year should be the same. Just make sure to pack plenty of shorts and comfortable clothes, and you should be fine during the summer here. :P

Can't wait to see you guys! :P

  9. I live in the heart of Orlando. I use to actually live next to Universal Studios (My sister still lives there actually), but now I live over by the University of Central Florida (Go Knights! Not really... but whatever), so I'm only about 20 minutes West of where I use to live. It's still Orlando, but not the Orlandio most people know.

I'm actually 40 mins away from Cape Canaveral now.Which is just always cool.

  10. Woo-hoo! Bump the topic! :D

Alright, like I said I would update my picks (Even though I'm a few more weeks behind then I said I would) I think now would be more than an appropiate time to update my picks, as I said I was planning to anyways. These picks I stand whole heartly behind.

    AFC East

*1. New England (This is still a strong team, even with all the injuries in the defensive secondary, they'll win the division. Not a single one of the teams in this division will be able to get through them. Now, for the playoffs... that's another story.) (4th Seed)

    2. Buffalo (Still a decent team, with a good offense. They'll do good, but not good enough)

    3. Miami (Decent team that needs work on offense, but still has a good defense this season)

    4. NY Jets (OMG. Talk about a team in a tailspin. Too many injuries, and they're in a very competative division to boot.)

    AFC North

*1. Cincinnatti (Talk about a team I was completely wrong about. Them and this division have me completely floored. Awesome offense with Palmer, but the defense still needs some work, especially after this weeks Colts game.) (3rd Seed)

W2. Pittsburgh (They'll make the playoffs still, but with a hurt Big Ben, they won't make it far. They still have a great defense though.) (Wildcard 1)

    3. Cleveland (Romeo still needs some work on this team. He's done a great job so far. The Browns have a great defense, but they still need work on the other side of the ball)

    4. Baltimore (Talk about a team I was dead wrong about. The defense and offense suck. They can't control the ball on either side.)

    AFC South

*1. Indianapolis (They're 10-0, and probably have a lock on this division, but I wouldn't be surprised if Jacksonville rattles them a bit, as well as some other teams.) (1st Seed)

    2. Jacksonville (They're still decent, and they'll be the wildcard race, but facing a team like Indy is no small task.)

    3. Tennessee (Yea, they have McNair again, but they won't do anything special)

    4. Houston (Yea... nuff said)

    AFC West

*1. Denver (As much as I hate Denver, they'll probably win if they can keep this streak up.But, if the other division teams start picking up, they might just knock Denver into the wildcard slot, or worse, out the playoffs) (2nd Seed)

W2. San Diego (Geez, they are started out rough and dug themselves into a hole. But, I still think they are an exceptional team and will be a force to reckon with in the playoffs. And they have LaDainian Tomlinson, who I think is just an amazing football player.) (Wildcard 2)

    3. Kansas City (Still a good team, but I cannot stress how much work they still need on defense. Not to mention how tough of a division this is.)

    4. Oakland (They're still a good team, but they have not been playing good clutch football. And that will count in this division)

    ------------------------------------------------------------

    NFC East

*1. Dallas (This one was tough one to call, but Bill Parcells has created a great team here. Bledsoe is actually have a good season, and the Dallas defense is great) (2nd Seed)

W2. N.Y. Giants (They've vastly improved, and they're in tough division, which will do them some good. They just need to work on special teams, and need to stop turning the ball over so dang much.) (Wildcard 2)

    3. Washington (This was another shocker. This team has vastly improved, with a solid offense and defense. They just need some work, and they could still be a playoff team)

    4. Philadelphia (They are in a tailspin. Without McNabb and TOgate distracting them, they're are gonna come in dead last in this divison.)

    NFC North

*1. Chicago (Talk about another division that's shocked me, in a different way that is. They have a specatcular defense, and as I've said before, defenses matter. They can force turnovers, and the Orton guy isn't all too bad at QB) (4th Seed)

    2. Detroit (A meh team, that's lucky it's in a sad division.)

    3. Green Bay (With some new aquisitions in free agency, they'll move up, but they won't be making the playoffs. They've dug themselves into too deep a hole.)

    4. Minnesota (This team is just a team that's waiting to take a nosedive. They have no offense, but an decent defense. That an their special teams is all they have going for them. It's Brad Johnson at QB... need I say more?)

    NFC South

*1. Tampa Bay (I might be playing favorites, but this division has just turn into such an amazingly competative divison. But, Tampa has a fantastic defense, one of the best, not to mention they have a good running game, and a decent QB. I can see them coming out ontop. They're gonna make the playoffs, at worse in a wilcard slot) (3rd Seed)

W2. Carolina (They're a good team, but they can sometimes be a little inconsistent. Good grou[s on both sides of the ball. They'll make the playoffs too.) (Wildcard 1)

    3. Atlanta (They have completely disappointed me. They are not making the plays that count in important divisional games like this week, and that will be a big factor)

    4. New Orleans (Too many problems with this team, my heart still goes out to them, but they won't do nothing more)

    NFC West

*1. Seattle (This division still stinks… but atleast Seattle's doing pretty good. They're pretty much a lock in this divison) (1st Seed)

    2. St. Louis (Too many problems, and not a good team.)

    3. Arizona (Ugh. Kurt Warner. Need I say more???)

    4. San Francisco (Looks like they're heading the direction to be the team with the first pick in round 1 of the draft... AGAIN)

    *= Division Winner

    W= Wildcard

(I'm pretty sure how this will play out, if A) The Colts choke in the playoffs, and B)San Diego gets they're game going)

    AFC Championship Game:

Cinncinatti vs. San Diego (Or Indy vs San Diego, depending on the Wildcards and seeds)

Winner: San Diego (Colts for the other)

    NFC Championship Game:

Tampa Bay vs. Dallas (Or Carolina vs. Dallas, depending on Wildcards and seeds)

Winner: Tampa Bay (Or Dallas for the other)

    Super Bowl 40

San Diego vs Tampa Bay (Or any of the other's from above, you do the math)

    Winner: San Diego!

A little wierd, but I stand by it. If the Colts finally make it to the Superbowl, they'll win it. If not, I'll still pick the AFC team over the NFC, even if they are the Panthers or the Bucs. lol

There ya go enjoy, took me a little to plan out the playoffs, but I hope my seeds/picks stand and hold some water. :)

  11. Well geez, just look at my avatar and you can see what kind of hobbies I'm into. :)

In case you can't tell, I've really gotten into comics over the last year. It's really been some great stuff. It's amazing what you can learn about the genre with reading and the internet. Sadly enough, that's all work related, but I've grown into quite the fan. I love working at a comic book store. B)

My other obvious hobby is FOOTBALL!! I love it. From High School to Pro, it's just sooo much fun to watch. And I'm talking about American Football, before someone makes a smart arse comment. :-P

Besides all that and school, that's all I really have time for... yesh... I need to get a life.

EDIT: My god... I hardly go to movies anymore! I love going to them movies! I need to really give something up... oy.

  12. Yesshhhh. My picks are not fairing to well... I'm gonna have to tweak them in a few weeks, cause I sure as heck do not know what I was thinking.

But wow, the PIT/JAX game last week... talk about hilarious. Go Jags GO!!

    ::Cackles::

Writers Note: That game just proved my point that Tommy Maddox should not be playing football... at ALL.

  13. It should totally be in Orlando, I mean come on? What better weather is there than Florida in the summer??? You'd be begging to go into the pool. And with the attractions located around the place, if something is planned in advance, you can get major discounts on hotels and tickets to theme park attractions.

There are hundreds of hotels to choose from, and you have the mouse in the backyard, or you can go to awesome Universal Studios, all of which accomidate fairly large groups (If were talking over 10 of course. :()

I'll of course put together a much nice presentation by the end of the month, but come on, we all know you wanna come to Orlando. :(

    <<And it'll keep me from traveling ::Cackles::>>

EDIT: Sadly enough, the major nerd conventions are always in the Winter or Fall season around here, so major nerd thing to attend... but how can you beat "Nerds Bowling!"...

Yea... I'll come up with something better.
